How Families Stay Connected, Keep Learning, and Make the Most of Summer
Summer is a time for children to play, explore new interests, and create lasting memories—but it’s also an important opportunity to continue learning and staying connected with the community. For many families, finding safe, engaging activities that are both educational and affordable can be a challenge.
That’s where New Town Success Zone steps in with summer programs for families in Jacksonville.
Each summer, New Town Success Zone offers a variety of family-focused programs that support children, parents, caregivers, and older adults alike. Whether it’s helping young learners discover a love of science, providing support for new parents, or creating opportunities for neighbors to come together, these programs are designed to strengthen families while building a healthier, more connected New Town.

Why Summer Programs Matter
While summer is often associated with vacations and relaxation, it’s also a critical time for children’s development. According to the National Summer Learning Association, students who participate in quality summer learning programs continue developing academically while strengthening confidence, creativity, and social skills. The Afterschool Alliance also emphasizes that structured summer programs help children stay active, build positive relationships, and maintain important academic skills outside the classroom. Read more at https://afterschoolalliance.org/topics/summer-learning.cfm.
New Town Success Zone believes summer should be more than just time away from school—it should be a season of opportunity for the entire family.
Helping Young Minds Grow Through IMPACT Kids Discovery Club
One of the highlights of the summer is IMPACT Kids Discovery Club, where learning comes to life through hands-on experiences.
Throughout July, children have the opportunity to participate in exciting activities as a part of our IMPACT Kids Discovery Club programming. These experiences encourage curiosity while helping children build practical life skills they can carry beyond the classroom.
Programs like ours show children that learning doesn’t have to stop when school ends—it can be exciting, creative, and fun.

Preparing Youth for Tomorrow with All Access: DECODED
Technology is becoming part of nearly every career, and New Town Success Zone is helping young people prepare for the future through Think Bold All Access: DECODED.
This innovative program introduces students to technology, digital literacy, creative problem-solving, and career exploration through engaging, hands-on experiences. By exposing youth to new skills and industries, DECODED helps participants imagine what’s possible for their future while building confidence in the classroom and beyond.
Summer offers the perfect opportunity for students to discover new passions without the pressures of the traditional school year.
Supporting Families from the Very Beginning
Summer programming isn’t only for school-age children.
Brighter Beginnings continues serving expecting parents and families with young children by providing educational resources, family support, and opportunities to build strong foundations during a child’s earliest years.
Strong families create strong communities, and helping parents feel supported during these important milestones benefits children for years to come.
Bringing the Community Together
Summer is also about neighbors supporting neighbors.
Each month, Community Impact Day brings families together through resource distributions, community partnerships, and opportunities to connect with organizations serving Jacksonville’s Historic New Town neighborhood.
Whether families are accessing groceries, learning about available services, or simply spending time with neighbors, these events help strengthen the community while making valuable resources more accessible.

Caring for Every Generation
One thing that makes New Town Success Zone unique is its commitment to serving residents of every age.
Programs like Memory Café provide a welcoming environment for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers, offering connection, conversation, and community support.
Meanwhile, Vision Keepers encourages residents and community leaders to stay engaged in strengthening New Town through collaboration and shared leadership.
These programs remind us that building a stronger community means supporting every generation—not just children.
More Than Summer Activities
Each of these programs serves a different purpose, but together they create something much bigger.
A child who attends Discovery Club may inspire their family to participate in Community Impact Day. A new parent attending Brighter Beginnings may discover additional resources that benefit their household. A caregiver visiting Memory Café may build relationships with others facing similar challenges.
Rather than offering isolated events, New Town Success Zone creates opportunities for families to become part of an ongoing support network that lasts well beyond the summer months.
